Adventures in Saving Energy (and money, too!)
I love recycling. Not recycling kills me. So imagine my joy when I discovered the Smart Strip Energy Saving Surge Protector
I love this thing.
We have this hooked up to our home theater system. Everything in the home theater system (TV, cable box, dvd player, XBox) is drawing power while it's plugged in. But the Smart Strip
So our TV is hooked up to the control outlet, and the DVR is in an "always on." When the TV turns on, it sends power to the dvd player and Pete's XBox. When you turn the TV off, it cuts power to the dvd player and the XBox, and those two things don't draw power anymore, saving energy.
We also just bought a battery charger

I have been wanting to do this for a while, but I didn’t know there was such a “smart” power strip out there. I had been planning on plugging the DVR into the wall and then everything else into a power strip and simply turning it off an on as I go about my day. But that’s pretty cool. I’ll have to look for one of those.
You should get one! I have two, one for my computer/printer, and then one for the TV. You can only get it through Amazon or Smart Homes (I think that’s the name of the company), who makes it.
