Blog Day for the Mothers Act

BlogHers Act: Blog Day for the Mothers Act As a woman of childbearing age (who has yet to bear children!) and as someone who has suffered from depression in the past, I have thought of the possibilities of postpartum depression. Every year, it affects  800,000 women who give birth, and 85% of those women go undiagnosed. This is dangerous for the mother who suffers from it, as well as their children and family.

There is currently a bill in the Senate called the Mothers Act. This bill will provide education and screening to women who have given birth, and fund research to learn more about postpartum illnesses. Without Senate sponsers, this bill will not go through. Please contact your state’s Senator to make sure that this bill gets passed!
