You’re Getting Sleepy . . .

I have to stay awake for three more hours. That’s all. It’s not that much. But I’m falling asleep here at my desk because I feel the way I felt my last semester of college–sleepy and slow. Like my mind isn’t thinking fast enough for me, which is both a good and bad thing. But damn.

Highlights of my trip to Everglades City:

  • My mom making her own word, "traumasticized."
  • Kyndra going to great lengths to hide her smoking from my dad
  • Frog legs, yum
  • Stone crab, double yum
  • Seeing a porpoise and a manatee

The non-highlights:

  • Staying in an RV that has been anchored to the ground and had a room built on it. It wasn’t the RV itself, that was bad, but the lack of insulation. By noon it was 80 degrees inside.
  • Sparse landscape. There is nothing there except palm trees and mangroves. I really think that it’s the ugliest place I’ve ever been to.
  • Listening to my parents talk to a realtor about buying something there. The talking I didn’t mind. It was the prices of the places that bothered me. They’re all TRAILORS and they cost like $300,000 and above. There is no guarantee that the trailer would even be there if a hurricane came. There’s no way.

Pictures to follow.
