I always thought that living in Orlando would be it for me. I’m so tied to Florida: my family, my great-grandfather and his lumber, and the place where all of my friends and life have been this far. It’s definitely home. <\/p>\n
But between Atlanta and Toronto, I’ve began to wonder what life is like on the outside. To live near a real city, where there is more than cookie cutter houses and people clinging to the possibilities of tourism. I think it’s the cookie cutter houses that really bother me. But anyway, I’ve began to think about if Orlando is where I want to always be. Do I want to raise a family there? Pete and I have talked about moving, putting off a decision until we decide to have kids. I do love Orlando. I think visiting a place and living there are two very different things. It’s just a weird city, trying to accommodate too many people at once, and it’s not very old, like Miami. I guess the world is just a bigger place than I realized, and living in the state where your mother’s father’s father settled is not the only option.<\/p>\n
I’m in Atlanta visiting Kelly now, plagued by my habit of getting up early for work. There is no sleeping in for me. We’ve had so much fun just hanging around, and I really wish she lived closer. Her new cat, Annie, seems to have claimed me for the weekend, which is cool. I still miss the Tater, but I’ve definitely learned that getting a second cat would be a ton of work. So she might be an only child, until there is a real child, and then we can just deal with the consequences of that. She likes anything that is snuggly so I’m sure it would be fine. <\/p>\n
I’m traveling the next two weekends. First to to The Shores<\/a> to spend some much needed quality time with my little Leelee and her boy, and then back to Everglades City\/Punta Gorda for some Father’s Day festivities.<\/p>\n
