We have this hooked up to our home theater system. Everything in the home theater system (TV, cable box, dvd player, XBox) is drawing power while it's plugged in. But the Smart Strip<\/a> has ten outlets: three outlets that are "always on," and six outlets that are controlled by one "control outlet."<\/p>\n

So our TV is hooked up to the control outlet, and the DVR is in an "always on." When the TV turns on, it sends power to the dvd player and Pete's XBox. When you turn the TV off, it cuts power to the dvd player and the XBox, and those two things don't draw power anymore, saving energy. <\/p>\n

We also just bought a battery charger<\/a> that charges every type of battery. We only have four AAs right now, but I've been online looking for other batteries to buy. <\/p>\n
