they say that
san diego is one of the most beautiful places in the world, but i disagree.
the two times i’ve been to california, i haven’t liked it. there’s no real reason why, besides the dirtiness of LA, but i don’t like it, and i don’t think that i could ever live there. i could, however, visit often, because pete’s dad lives in sierra madre and that’s just beautiful.
san diego was cold and gray and dreary. gray/grey. why would the english language have two spellings for the word. i don’t konw. i like gray, maybe because my name is spelled with an a rather than an e but i’ll leave that up to your discretion.
my tennis was decent. everyone’s tennis was decent, but i feel like none of us played stellar tennis, the kind we need to win.
i was also disappointed to find out that the texas a&m team that wins every year is made up of the varsity team rejects. a club is a group of people who get together for fun, who all like to do something similar. not recruited. that shouldn’t count. the level of the tennis at nationals has gone way up. more people are starting to get interested in it. i hope next year is better. i had fun. i was a little tempermental during a few matches but i feel that it was called for. i think that you should own your actions, whether they were intentional or not, and screaming every line call and score as loud as i could is definitely something i’ll own up to.
the rest of the trip was…tiredness. we were so tired at the end of every day. tired of the crappy weather, tired of trying to figure out what it came from, tired from playing and the jetlag. even on the fun days the girls were asleep by 11. i tried to stay up but it wasn’t possible. there was drama as usual, which can be expected with such a small group traveling together. but it was still fun, we saw the cliffs of la jolla and seals that were just born and had so much fun. i never laugh so hard as when i’m around those people. but i will definitely admit i was ready to go home.
my birthday, by the way, was just amazing. phone calls phone calls phone calls. hauling ass to write a 5 pg paper to turn in early for irish. out to dinner with peter which turned into dinner with a good 25 people. i felt special, and it was nice, one of the best birthday’s i’ve had. and denis pete got me an ipod, which is a small wonder in itself, because i’ve been talking to him about them since they came out. it’s simply amazing!
so now, after 2 days, and since i’ve forced myself to write something and get back into the habit of it, i’m going to work on that midterm. tomorrow and sunday i’ll read. the break feels so short. i want to be done and out of school already. argh! but here are 3 pics from the ofoto gallery of nationals, 3 of my personal favs, so let me know if you want me to add you to the ofoto list so you can see them all. happy spring break everyone!
I don’t know anything about So Cal, but the San Francisco area is gorgeous. Glad you had fun though!
(I think “grey” is British and “gray” is American.)
