THE ARTICLE IS LIBERAL PROPOGANDA BULLSHIT ANYWAY
DAMNIT…I just typed up a looooong response to this article and it got deleted!!! Here’s an abridged version:
Okay, this article that you just read is a scare tactic by a partisan politcal action “grassroots” (liberal) group called Capitol Advantage. This can be seen by the blatant reference to how “evil” Bush is by the first paragraph: “The administration is quietly trying to get these bills passed now, while the public’s attention is on the elections, so our action on this is needed immediately.” This bullshit statement proves that even when its trying to pretend to be neutral, it still fails. I guess the author of this article forgot that “administrations” get bills passed, Congressmen and Senators do. So, this is a tactic to show that Bush is covert, and secretive, and evil and etc.. which is all bullshit, and liberals have to resort to these pathetic scare tactics in politics. However, I’m not changing the subject, just stating the facts that this article is completely biased and thus has no credibility.
To the matter at hand. This is all bullshit. There is always “pending legislation” on the draft. There is always “pending legislation” on abortion, gun control, and a host of other contreversial issues… but nothing ever happens with them. The sliver of truth in this article is probably that one or two Congressman (probably from Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Georgia…etc.) that wants to reenact the draft and is preparing a bill to be voted on. The bill, if it even makes it to the floor, will NOT CARRY. Voting to enact the draft is political career suicide for a Republican or a Democrat… unless you’re from one of the states listed above… because the American people HATE the draft and would be opposed to it. So, basically, this will not happen until there is an absolute necessity for it like WWII.
As far as where I stand on the draft. It definetely works, and it would be a great thing… however, its not the RIGHT thing. Enlistment should not be enforced, thats an infringement of freedom, and freedom is the cornerstone of this country. Don’t get me wrong, I look at Israel and see that it can work, the absolute best military in the world (besides ours). But if a man or woman is 18 years old, they are protected by the Constitution which grants liberties and freedoms, and one should not be forced into service. Having a voluntary military has proven to be equally as effective as long as funding and salaries are sufficient… and thats a major reason why everyone needs to REELECT GEORGE W. BUSH in November…
I hope this wasn’t too long. If there’s ever another question or discussion you’d like to have about politics.. bring it on.

Re: THE ARTICLE IS LIBERAL PROPOGANDA BULLSHIT ANYWAY
quick correction: In the first paragraph where I said “‘administrations’ get bills passed,” it should actually say, “‘administrations DON’T get bills passed.” This is to show that the article is saying that Bush is pushing these bills, but the President doesn’t EVER bring legislation to the floor besides Executive Budgeting.
